For over three decades, Lazaro Perez has been a defining voice in bridal fashion, celebrated for his romantic vision, couture-level craftsmanship, and unmistakable silhouettes. His work is rooted in classical technique yet guided by emotion, creating gowns that feel timeless, luxurious, and deeply personal.
Lazaro’s connection to fashion began early. Raised in a humble family where sewing was both craft and necessity, he learned patternmaking from his mother, a seamstress in Cuba, and helped sew garments to support their household after leaving the country with very little. From those formative experiences, Lazaro developed a deep respect for construction and the belief that what you create by hand can bring joy, confidence, and meaning to others. Bridal, for him, was never just about design — it was about creating happiness.
Lazaro studied at Ray College of Design and continued expanding his artistic training in Chicago. While studying design, Lazaro entered a competition sponsored by a bridal salon and won, an experience that opened the door to the bridal industry. After completing his education, he moved to New York, where exposure to established design houses profoundly shaped his perspective. His early professional years included work at Galina, where he absorbed traditional bridal influences, and later under Richard Glasgow, whose couture standards left a lasting impression. There, Lazaro deepened his understanding of construction, learning that a gown must be as beautiful inside as it is on the outside. He eventually designed his own collection, gaining invaluable experience in fit, engineering, and execution.
In 1994, Lazaro launched his namesake Lazaro Bridal collection and began a long chapter designing for brides across generations. This technical foundation is central to Lazaro’s work. He approaches design as a true creator — sketching, building patterns, selecting fabrics, and designing embroidery and beading himself. Construction is never secondary; it is the structure that allows romance to exist. His gowns are known for their balance of drama and softness, architectural form and fluid movement, and for silhouettes that flatter and support the body with precision.
Throughout his career, Lazaro has drawn inspiration from everywhere — music, classic films, runway fashion, and fine art — while remaining disciplined in his approach, believing bridal fashion should endure beyond a moment. This commitment to timelessness has made his designs recognizable and lasting.
Today, Lazaro enters a new chapter with Maison Perez and Blanc de Perez, two collections that share the same DNA while offering distinct expressions of his design philosophy. Maison Perez is the more opulent expression — featuring lush fabrics, elaborate embroidery, and heightened drama for brides who seek couture presence. Blanc de Perez offers a cleaner, lighter approach, retaining the romance and structure Lazaro is known for while embracing a more effortless refinement.
To Lazaro, luxury is not defined by a single element. It is the result of everything working together — the fabric, the embroidery, the construction, and the way a gown makes a bride feel the moment she puts it on. Much of that luxury lies in details unseen: the internal corsetry, the balance of structure and movement, and the precision of fit.
Above all, Lazaro considers it an honor to dress a woman on one of the most important days of her life. His hope is that every bride feels special, confident, and fully present in the moment. The legacy he values most is one earned through recognition—when a dress is unmistakably his—and through the countless brides he has had the privilege to dress across generations. As he builds this next chapter, Lazaro remains focused on what has always mattered most: creating beautiful gowns, with integrity, for unforgettable moments.
“A wedding gown should be timeless. Luxury is more of a feeling than anything else—fabric, embroidery, structure, and fit. When everything works together, a bride doesn’t just wear a gown—she feels it.”
— Lazaro Perez
